After a long wait for the COVID-19 vaccine, finally, the process of vaccination has begun and it is successfully getting provided to citizens in different phases or waves. Currently, senior citizens above the age of 60 and those with comorbidities above 45 years of age are eligible. Many people who have already taken the vaccine have been sharing stories with their peers motivating others to opt for it too. Primarily there are two vaccines provided, one is Covishield and the other is Covaxin. If you take any of the two vaccines you should keep your vaccine certification handy. here’s how to download the covid vaccination certificate.

This study claimed that the seropositivity rates to anti-spike antibody were significantly higher in Covishield recipient compared to the Covaxin recipient after the first dose. It said that both the vaccines, Covishield and Covaxin, elicited good response after both the doses, however, seropositivity rate and median anti-spike antibody were significantly higher in Covishield. One thing must also be noted in this context, the study that is referred to in here is a preprint and has not been peer-reviewed and so it should not be used to guide clinical practice.

  • Covaxin Covaxin introduces a dead or inactive coronavirus into your body. While the introduction of the virus doesn’t infect you, it triggers the production of antibodies that are trained to fight COVID-19 specifically. In the event you are infected after taking the full dose of the vaccine, your body has antibodies that are trained to attack the virus without leading to severe symptoms due to infection. Side effects of Covaxin include fever, body ache, rashes, fatigue, nausea and pain at the site of injection
  • Covishield Covishield is a weakened version of a common cold virus that has been engineered to resemble the coronavirus. It triggers the same antibody response in the body as the Covaxin without actually making the host body sick.
  • After getting vaccine dose, people may face fever, headache and pain at the site of injection. People also complain about joint pain, vomiting and dizziness etc. However, there is no big issue, these symptoms are temporary for one or two days only. Vaccines are safe and secure which are life-saving during this pandemic.

The Government of India has announced free vaccination to the general public and under this initiative vaccine will be provided to State Governments. We urge all of you to get vaccine whenever possible to contribute in the fights against this pandemic. Everyone is in risk until we all are safe. Follow all safety protocols and guidelines.
