Culture is the characteristics and knowledge of a particular group of people, encompassing language, religion, cuisine, social habits, music and arts. As said by Cristina De Rossi, an anthropologist at Barnet and Southgate Collage in London , “Culture encompasses religion, food , what we wear, how we wear it, our language, marriage, music, what we believe is right or wrong, how we sit at table , how we greet visitors, how we behave with loved ones, and a million other things”. Heritage is defined as the traditions , qualities and culture of a country that have existed for a very long time and that have great importance for the country.

India’s culture is among the worlds most oldest; civilization in India began about 4,500 years ago. As described as “Sa Prathama Sanskriti” by many sources which means the first  and the supreme culture of the world. Indus Valley Civilization and many other discoveries by historians tell us that India was developed and civilized way before other countries. It always had its own distinct culture from its very first civilization. It had its distinct art and architecture, food, clothing, religion, language, monuments, and culture. Many other cultures have taken inspiration from Indian culture. Sanskrit is said to be have given birth to a lot of other languages.

India is a very vast country, It is seventh largest country in the world. India is a very diverse country, a fact that is visibly prominent in its people, geography, culture and climate. From  the eternal snows of the Himalayas to the cultivated Peninsula of far South , from deserts of thar in West to the humid deltas of the East, from dry heat and cold of the Central Plateau to the cool forests in the foothills . The food, clothing and habits of an Indian differ in accordance to the place of origin.

The Indian Culture varies just like its vast geography. People speak in different languages, dress differently, follow different religion, eat different food but are of the same temperament. India’s diverse culture make it different and special from the other world. India has 28 States and 8 Union territories. Different region have their own distinct culture. India has population of over 1.2 billion according to the data provided by government of India, being the most populous country after China. India takes pride in flaunting its surpassed heritage eras over eras have influenced , moulded and face lifted the rich heritage of which we all are part of. India has a lot of heritage sites some of them are  Taj Mahal, Ajanta caves, Agra fort, Ellora caves, Sun temple, Kaziranga National park, Fatehpur Sikri, Sundarbans National park, Jaipur ,the Great living Chola temple, and a lot more.

Even if we have distinct cultures we are still united as one. Whether it is a joyous occasion or a moment of grief , people participate whole-heartedly , feeling the happiness or pain. A festival or a celebration is never constrained to a family or a home. The whole community or neighborhood is involved in bringing liveliness to an occasion.
